Studio work...
I've had my Alien Bees studio lights for a while now but never seemed to get time to work with them. So today I made the kids (and our dog) model for me. Here's a few of my favorites...

Ponytails...
Meggie in her Lil' Sugarplum barrettes (we love these clips!) I'm just thrilled that her hair is long enough for ponytails now!

Babywearing...
When I first found out we were expecting twins, I wondered how we would ever deal with 2 babies at once. 1 was hard enough (although so rewarding!) Then I started looking into Babywearing and bought a Moby wrap. It was great! I could hold both babies at the same time in the wrap and still have my hands free to help our son! Plus the girls loved it and it helped them feel safe and warm.
Fast forward to May 2007. I've tried so many different slings, wraps and Mei Tais and have found my favorites. But I'm always experiementing and looking for new things to try. After all, the girls are only little for a very short time! Sure, some things have changed. I can't wrap both together anymore and they are 20lbs instead of 6. But they still love being worn. It's great for them to be close to me, and I love that it has given me time to snuggle with them that I might not have had otherwise. Plus it keeps my hands free for other things. I can actually wrap one on my back, one on my front and still pick up Colin. I don't do it often, but it's comforting to know I can if I need to!
So this photo is of my latest sling. It's a P-Sling Avant Gradation with rings by Me & Ro. It's gorgeous and the girls love it! (It's a bit too girly for Colin's taste though - he much prefers wraps!)

Hows this?
I know there's been a lot of Teagan lately, but Meg just hasn't been sitting still long enough for pics and Colin runs from the camera (still !) :) So here's another one. With the 24-70L on my 5D. I turned down the sharpening slightly on my resize for web action. Better?
I'm not quite sure how a 1 year old can have that "look" down pat. She just looks at us sometimes with one eyebrow raised and it always cracks me up!

I love this "L"!
Ok - so I'm spoiled. I'm used to the sharpness I get with my primes and didn't ever think I could get even close to that with a zoom. But take a look at this! It's with my new 24-70L. I can't wait to use it more! I did run color pop on this and sharpen for web. But I tried the same thing with some of my other zooms and they didn't even come close to this sharpness! I think it gives my primes a run for their money!

Meggie's almost walking!
Ok - for most 14 month olds, using a push behind walker is something they have been doing for months! But our girls were born at 29.5 weeks and so they really aren't even a year old yet! Meg is on the verge of walking and Teagan is cruising around at her own pace! They have both been cruising for a while, but we had never thought to try them behind a walker. Meg absolutely loved it! It's not going to be long before they are both running after their big brother!

Discovering new life
Teagan and I went outside while the other kids were sleeping and it was amazing watching her discover the world around her! Last summer she was much too little to really interact with her surroundings. This year I know she and Meg will both be running around discovering! It's going to be fun to watch! This shot was taken just after she tasted the clover and decided it wasn't good food!

Busy week!
What a busy week! This was from a session last weekend - isn't he absolutely adorable? I could just kiss those cheeks all day! Things are going really well with the business and Summer sessions are booking up very quickly! I also started a business blog to show my clients a sneak peek at their sessions and dsiplay some of my favorite shots! You can visit it here: Prochazka Photography
The weather is finally starting to get nice (YAY) and I'm looking forward to more outside shots. The thaw has begun!!

Colin and the doughnut
Colin loves doughnuts. He really, really loves them. So much that when he woke up from his nap and saw one laying on the kitchen counter, he freaked out. Now he doesn't have them very often so it made his day. He sat still while eating his doughnut and let me (*gasp*) take pictures of him!!! And that made my day.

My 5D is here and it's love! :)
Canon 5D 85mm @ 2.8 1/500 ISO 800
I've been playing with ISO settings to see what this camera can do. This image has not had any noise reduction at all and you can only see a slight touch of noise at 100% crop - awesome!

Working with Different Apertures....
As a continuation of yesterdays thread, I decided to get out my camera yesterday with one sole purpose - to get both eyes very, very sharp using different apertures. I was very happy with the results...
A closer crop:
And 100% (approx) crop:
Canon 400D 28mm @ 2.8 1/200 ISO 400
I did run a color pop on these and sharpened for web. Are they too sharp? I know there's a fine line between sharp and oversharpened.
