I have been working with natural light a lot lately - trying to get comfortable shooting with that before I start working with lighting. Every time I used my white background in the past I had bounced my speedlite off the ceiling. But that always left me with harsh shadows under their faces and if I turned down the flash too much the entire sceen was underexposed. So this time I turned my speedlite off and tried simply overexposing the shot. WDYT? I wanted to focus on the feather and her hands, but I think I should have chosen a slightly larger aperture so her face would have been more obviously OOF. CC and comments welcome!!
Adorable baby! I really like the white whites but I think it has a slightly orangey/reddish tinge to the picture. Not so much on her face, but on her feet. Very cute picture though!
Great job - alwso thanks for sharing how you did it - I will have to give it a go myself :) I love the vibrant colors in the picture. I would love to see more of the feathered boa in the pic ;)
Very cute and colorful. I agree that you probably should have used a different aperture setting. Lighting is always so difficult. I think you made a good start.
Thanks! So what aperture setting would I have tried? Maybe my 50mm 1.4 would have given me a bit more DOF? And I wonder why her feet are orange but the rest of her isn't? Is it just because of where the light hit? There wasn't really much light in the room to begin with. Hmmm - Just trying to puzzle it all out! :) I might have to try this shot again later if I can get them to cooperate! Poor DH - he's always my assistant whether he likes it or not!! LOL!
